Hello, first I would like to say thank you for taking the time to research our firm and how we can assist you in your time of need. I take great pride in what I do and never take for granted to great weight and impact our profession has on the lives of our clients. I wanted to take a brief moment and tell you about myself and why I do what I do.
I am a native of Greater Kansas City. I grew up in Olathe, Kansas and through life’s great journey I have traveled to many places throughout this great country and abroad. A number of years ago I came back to the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area to be close to family and raise my children.
Through the challenges and struggles we all face in life, I found myself divorced and co-parenting my amazing children with someone I didn’t necessarily get along with. The experience of that divorce, and the custody battle included, changed my life and put me on a different path. At the time I didn’t understand the legal process or why things worked the odd and mysterious way they did. It was at that time that I made the decision to pursue a lifelong dream of obtaining an education in the practice of law.
The experience of fighting a custody battle to simply be able to do my part as a parent ignited in me a will to help others going through the same difficult and often painful process. My goal became to guide and mentor my clients through this difficult and complicated process so that they understand their rights and are able to make the necessary decisions to get the best possible outcome for their children and themselves. Like many of my clients, my children are the driving force that motivates me to make an impact every day.
Aside from custody, I have found a passion for helping people through the other difficult legal matters they encounter, often at no fault of their own. Making sure people are able to have a voice in the courtroom in property and contract disputes is something I take great pride in. I have found that each of my cases is different and building a strong relationship with each of my clients is paramount to the success of their cases.
My grandfather spent more than 40 years growing a small construction business only to have it all but taken from him due to the callous and careless practices of business partners. After a lifetime of my grandfather’s hard work to have it all but taken away from him due to the actions of another party never felt right to me. Being able to understand how to protect others in similar situations became one of the goals of my legal education.
My grandfather was an integral part of my upbringing, teaching me the value of hard work and working with my hands. From that mentorship, I was able to support myself and provide for my young family as an automotive technician, and later a Harley Davidson technician, through parts of my undergraduate degree program. Working full time and going to school at night and on weekends was not easy, but absolutely worth it. I bring that same work ethic with me to my current profession every day and do my best to pass it on to my children.
Coming from those blue-collar roots, I understand each of my clients has worked hard for what they have and rightfully wants to protect the assets they have built and worked for. These principles are always at the forefront of my evaluation and advocacy of each case. I thank you again for taking the time to research our firm and look forward to speaking with you.
